Bad day at the office

Well today was a terrible day. I guess the moral of todays story was 'dont be greedy'

The day started ok with a £1.72 profit on the tennis. However, it was all downhill from there.

I traded two football games this evening. I traded the crystal palace vs West Brom game. I layed the draw for £10, and after about 15 minutes crystal palace scored and I could of greened up for a £2.60 profit, but instead I rode the game waiting for a better profit and the price to go up. It didnt as West Brom scored within five minutes. Anyway I stayed with the game as both teams were creating chances and West Brom could have scored three goals in the first half. In the second half I layed the 1-1 for £10 as lots of chances were being created. However, it was just one of those games and I hedged out of the correct score market for a £10.81 loss.

Now with the game still at 1-1 with 75 minutes gone, I should of traded out when the draw odds came into 2.0, however, as only 15% of championship games end in 1-1, I thought the percentages were on my side, and there would be a goal. However, you guessed it, no goal came, even though there was loads of chances. So I lost £26.50. I did recover a couple of pounds by scalping the correct score market in the last 15 mins of the game.

I did pick the right game to trade as there was goals but the moral of the story was:-

Always green up for a profit as soon as you can, dont be greedy.

I also traded on a second game from the spanish league. However, I ended up losing £10.06 on that game aswell, but I did trade out of that game when the odds for the draw hit 2.0. I should not have traded in this game as the stats were not really conclusive, so it was a bad judgement. I think the moral of the story for this game was:-

Dont trade just for the sake of trading, make sure it is a good trade. I think after doing so well at the weekend I got a bit too over confident.

So my overall bank now is £166.48. So I am still doing well, but all the profit from the weekend has gone. However, I suppose a bad day had to come sooner or later, just got to get back in the saddle and not get too down about it. As the saying goes, it is a marathon, not a sprint. lol

  1. Couldn't agree more!

Reds are bound to happen, the question is how to deal with them.

I had some reds too while experimenting.

I consider a big red when I lose almost all the stake, and I have had 2 of that, all for the same reason... not closing soon enough and always waiting for the market to come back to me :((

For the future I think I must implement a stop loss and stick with it no matter what...

Like in poker, it's the long run profit that counts, not a bad day
