Premiership Season 2011-2012 - Part 2

Home Vs Away Success

So looking at the table above we can see that Man City have a phenomenal home record, winning 18 and drawing 1. Man Utd had the 2nd best home form, winning 15, drawing 2 and losing 2. Man Utd had a far better away success rate than Man City and it could be argued that key home losses to Man City and Blackburn as well as the 4-4 draw with Everton cost them the title.
Interestingly, looking at Spurs and Arsenal, the overall success for the season is neck and neck. Spurs had a slightly better home form than Arsenal and you could argue, as mentioned before, that their poor away form cost them 4th spot.
Looking at Chelsea and Newcastle, their away form really did let them down. If both teams had a slightly higher away percentage, they may have made the top four.
Looking at the bottom clubs, we can see have woeful Wolves and Bolton have been home and away. If you are going to have any chance of survival in the Premiership, you have got to have decent home form to carry you on. Just look at the likes of Swansea, Norwich and Stoke, their good home form, kept them in the premiership.
