Helping hand!!!

Well the first match of the World Cup is over, and it left a sour taste in my mouth. Don't get me wrong, for the first match of the tournament, it was a decent match. In past world cup's we have been treated to some dire opening matches, but this was not one of them.

Why the sour taste then?

Well if Brazil get the helping hands that they so obviously got last night, from Sepp Blatter, then they may just be lifting the trophy. Similiar to 12 years ago, when South Korea got a lot of the so called 'rub of the green' and progressed deep into the tournament, Brazil might just be about to obtain a similiar helping hand. The penalty decision was terrible and there was nothing wrong with the Croatia goal. I actually think Croatia looked a decent side and were robbed of a point. They looked dangerous on the counter attack with Olic in particular causing problems.

Maybe it is just me, but I actually thought Brazil were average, yes Neymar showed some flashes of brilliance, but they didn't control the midfield. With paulinho in midfield you can see why. I cannot understand why spurs paid £17 million for him. As for Brazils defence, it did not look the best. I am never convinced with regards to Luis and the fullbacks looked good going forward , but cannot seem to defend, a bit like a certain Glen Johnson for England.

I really hope this game was a 'flash in the pan' and the helping hand bestowed on to Brazil does not become a permanent one.

On a positive note I did a couple of small trades on the match. I opposed Croatia when they went 1-0 up. Then I LTD at HT when it was 1-1. I Aldo benefited from a late goal as I Layed the current score with 10 minutes to go. So I managed to make £25 on the match.
