Well both teams are in free fall and have no form. Oldham have only drawn 1 of the last 8 games and Tranmere are only slightly better with 1 win and 2 draws in the last 8. The only win was their last game against Colchester (1-0). However, further examination of the stats reveals that 6 of the last 8 games for Oldham were against top half table teams, including Peterborough, MK Dons and Brighton. Also Oldham have only lost the last three games 1-0.

Tranmere have also played top half teams and have played three bottom half teams, were they managed a draw and two losses. Both teams in the last 8 games scored less than 1 goal per game and both only kept 1 clean sheet in the last 8. The last 8 matches for each team yielded 37.5% and 25% over 2.5 goals respectively.

Oldham have lost the last 4 games at home and Tranmere have drawn 2 and lost 2 of their last 4 away games, again both teams scoring less than a goal per game. However, 3/4 games for both teams home and away respectively have been against top table teams.

The head to heads definitely goes to Oldham, having won 3 out of the last 5, with 1 draw and 1 loss making up the numbers. Only 1 of these 5 games was over 2.5 goals.

Tactics:- This is a tough one to call as both teams are in dire form. However, looking at the stats, particularly the head to heads I think Oldham will shade the game. Also with home advantage, that might just give them the edge.

I think this game is too risky to lay the draw, considering the form of both teams. So I think I will be laying over 2.5 goals and covering my options in the correct score market.
