Premiership Season 2011-2012 - Part 3

In this, the third part of my Premiership season review we will look at goals and scorelines.

Goals

Next we take a brief look at the average number of goals in each team’s matches, overall, home and away. Looking at home matches we can see that the two Manchester clubs had the most goals, closely followed by Chelsea. Anfield was the meanest ground, with the fewest goals. Looking at the away matches, we can clearly see there were lots of goals when Arsenal played away from home and also when Blackburn played away from home. If you followed Fulham on their away travels, you would have been very disappointed, as their away matches had the fewest goals.

Scorelines

Next we will have a look at the most common scorelines in the Premier league this season. As we can clearly see the most common scoreline was 1-1. Perhaps surprisingly the second most common scoreline was 1-2 to the away side, closely followed by 1-0 to the home side. The 2-1 and 2-0 scoreline to the home side followed.
